I was fortunate to attend the 7th International Marine Debris Conferenece in Busan, South Korea. The conference is held every 4 years, attracting the world's foremost marine debris experts to present their research, share information and seek solutions. I was honoured to be part of the Canadian contingent, which included colleagues Hannah Gentes and Spencer Binda, from the Coastal Restoration Society. We presented a summary of our Derelict Vessel Removal best practices, along with results of the BC Clean Waters, Clean Coast project, which was the largest shoreline clean initiative to date in Canada. It was inspiring to be along with such dedicated people, seeking solutions to this complex global problem.
To honour the spirit of the conference, I created these recycled fishing floats as a gift for conference organizers and fellow presenters.
