Hangin' On

'Hangin' On' was a fun piece to work on. I always love an opportunity to incororate an umbrella handle into my art. This piece was inspired by the shaped mahagony wood piece. I'm not sure what it's from, probably sailboat trim of some kind. The shape of the wood reminded me of a large coat hanger. I remember thinking - If only I had a large hook to go with it. It didnt take me long to experiemnt with an umbrella handle. Perfect shape! I had been saving the green handle for a special occassion, and was glad I had. I couldnt believe how bright the colour shone once I scrubbed it clean of salt. It was like an emerald. I also like how the small fishing line beads remind me of water droplets running down the line.
