I am constantly experimenting with ways to use plastic water bottles. Along with the bootle caps, they are always in the top five marine debris items found around the globe. While cleaning them the labels naturally fell off. It was an unexpectedly cool transformation - with no label branding distractions, they took on a diiferent aesthetic. I painted a few and they reminded me a bit like patio lanterns. I crushed them to give them some additional visual interest, and strung them up in my backyard. My partner Jen suggested using an old string of Christmas fairy lights that she had. They worked like a charm - totally transforming the bottles into a visual party! Everytime I see them I start humming Canadian Kim Mitchell's classic song of my youth - Patio Lanterns :-)
